ATT: National Manual of Policy and Procedure Revisions (2024)

“Do not abandon yourselves to despair.

We are the Easter people and hallelujah is our song.”

St. John Paul II

May the words of St. John Paul II fill you with hope and give you every confidence to say Here I am Lord, send me.

By now, you may have seen the recently updated Constitution & Bylaws (C&B) on the national website, or perhaps you have purchased a hard copy. To complement the C&B, the National Manual of Policy and Procedure (P&P) is now also available with many updates. Also included is a memo that indicates what changes were made.

A group of volunteers have agreed to regularly review the P&P to ensure many revisions are not required at one time in the future. The members who will be contributing to the review are Honorary Life Member Anne-Marie Gorman (2018-2021), life members Rebecca Kallal and Alice Noble, and me. As part of your responsibility as past president, you are encouraged to review this manual and submit proposed revisions using the form found on page 201 of the P&P.

A few of the changes you will see include:

  • Councils at all levels can now assign representatives to boards of other organizations.
  • The term Mass will now be capitalized when used in a general sense.
  • Emphasis on the importance of and encouraging the practice of local leadership visits.
  • A description of the procedure for reporting deceased members.
  • Information on member communication pathways.

Thank you for familiarizing yourself with the changes so you can readily answer questions asked of you.

Wishing you the remainder of the 50 days of the Easter season to be joyous and filled with hope!

Your sister in the League,

Fran Lucas

National Past President
