On Tuesday, August 15th, at the 103rd national annual meeting of members (AMM), instructed voting on the one amendment by the 11 provincial presidents took place. To review, each parish council in Canada received the amendment which it voted on in winter or spring 2023. The results were forwarded to the respective diocesan presidents (or provincial presidents if no more than one diocesan council) and to national office.
After the 2023 diocesan/provincial conventions, the voting delegates registered the votes of their parish councils when called upon by their respective presidents. This continued until all provincial councils had received the instructed votes of the levels below them.
At the AMM, the voting delegates (provincial presidents) recorded the votes of their provincial councils. Amendment 1: Meetings, conventions and quorums; Part XIV, Sections 2, 3, 4 was adopted.
A new publication of the League’s Constitution & Bylaws will be published once the change has been reviewed by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, which will be by December 2023. Councils are encouraged to purchase copies for their executives from national office at a minimum price. The National Manual Policy and Procedurewill also be updated.
