St. Dominic Savio Parish Council (Edmonton)

St. Dominic Savio Parish Council (Edmonton, AB) worked tirelessly at being “Catholic and Living It” in 2023.

They were able to raise $3,500.00 in donations to various agencies from Sign of Hope, Refugee Welcome Bags, Book Project to Women Shelters through pie and cake sales. They are involved in the various Liturgical Ministries at their parish from Adult Servers, Extraordinary Eucharist Ministers, to Proclaimers.

They ended 2023 by celebrating together at the year-end turkey dinner with special guest, Mary Hunt, Provincial President, who shared good news and greetings!

They began the new year on January 6th by participating in the Diocesan Council ‘s “Feed the Hungry” project. Six pots of chilli were made by members and served to the homeless who gathered for a hot meal at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of the First People.

Some of the executives ventured out in sub-zero temperature of -32C to do this service – Denise Marchak, Bea Salmon, Mable Solomon and Toni Maloney. Following the theme of “Here I Am Lord, Send Me!”

As a Christmas Project, the Council enlisted the parishioners at St. Dominic Savio Parish in donating funds through a “Charitable Envelope” project and $1,000.00 was raised and donated to the St. Francis of Assisi School Lunch Program.

Saint Vincent de Paul Food Bank was the recipient of donated food items through the “Reversed Advent Calendar” Project.
