“So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!” (2 Cor 5:17)

Sisters in the League,

Happy New Year! I hope you enjoyed the beautiful Christmas season with family and friends. With the new year upon us, I hope the renewal and recruitment of memberships is going well in parish councils throughout your diocese.

I would like to draw to your attention how essential it is to act immediately when you receive notification of a membership request from national office. When you receive the letter with the potential member’s contact information, it is important to contact her as soon as possible. Studies have shown that if you do not get back to the individual who has inquired quickly, they will lose interest and move on. It is also important to follow up after the letter has been sent.

Recently, I asked a previous member why she was no longer a member. Her response was that she was not asked when she informed the council that she did not want to renew. Perhaps having that conversation could have changed her mind. It has been said over and over that personal contact works the best. Let’s have those conversations so we can address the concerns.

I look forward to hearing how the progress of the initial contact and follow-up letters are going.

Your sister in the League,

Betty Colaneri

National Vice-President
