Upcoming WUCWO Events

Feb 16, 2024 | In the News, Media, News Releases

We are please to share good news and information about WUCWO’s upcoming initiatives:

1.     On February 27, 28 and 29WUCWO begins its School for Synodality. With great joy and hope we inform you that WUCWO is organising, through the World Women’s Observatory, a School for Synodality. This school will start with some webinars at the end of February. The first will be in Spanish, on February 27 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Rome time; the second in French, on February 28 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Rome time; the third in English, on February 29 from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Rome time and the fourth also in English, on February 29 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Rome time. Attached you will find the Save the Date.

The panellists will be different in each webinar, so you can attend more than one. The Synthesis Document of the first phase of the Synodal Assembly will be analysed and some participants (bishops, religious and lay women) will share their experiences, as well as their points of view on some of the “convergences”, “questions to be faced” and the “proposals” contained in chapter 9 of said synthesis: “Women in the Life and Mission of the Church”. There will be an opportunity of dialoguing with the panellists.

In these times of significant changes in the life of the Church, I consider it essential that, as Board members, we all attend these webinars and that we promote the participation in them of WUCWO women, our ecclesiastical assistants and all the women and men of our parishes and communities that might be interested.

2.     March 5, 2024: WUCWO celebrates International Women’s Day. Following the path started  a few years ago, WUCWO will celebrate Women’s Day in collaboration with the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue, with an ecumenical and interreligious online conference, with the participation of women of faith belonging to the main religions of the world (Catholic, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish and Ecumenical perspective). The meeting titled “Women Sowing Seeds of Peace and Cultivating Encounter” aims to reflect and react as women of faith to the culture of peace and encounter. We will meet to discern how religions can commit to building peace through a culture of encounter. In this process, the co-responsibility of women, each of them from their own reality, culture, faith and mission, can contribute to the relationships of justice and peace that the world needs today. We will have some opening words from Card. Ayuso, Prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue. I also attach the Save the Date that I hope you can share among your organisations and contacts.
