St. Mary’s Parish Council (Lindsay, ON) held a Tribute to the Sisters of St. Joseph on June 9th to celebrate their history and ministry. Sponsored by the Catholic Women’s League and the Knights of Columbus, each Sister was presented with a corsage upon arrive and lunch was held while presentations were given to appreciate their faith-filled service to God and their community.

Dominic Clovis presented a framed colourized photo of the academy/convent. A copy for the Sisters and a copy to be hung in St. Mary’s Church.Emcee was Patricia Clarke, CWL member and former student who attended school while the sisters were teaching and later taught with several Sisters.Fr. Peter Seabrooke, current Chaplain to the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada and former Pastor of St. Mary’s pays tribute to the Sisters.Sr. Sandra Boyer, final Sister to reside in the parish, receives the certificates from Pat O’Reilly.Leona Saxun, one of the Associates of the Sisters of St. Joesph paid tribute. Other local Associates Cecile Pomeroy and Grace King were in attendance.Following the CWL choir singing their tribute to the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada, President Lillian O’Connell thanked the Sisters and all the groups and parishioners who had helped to make the event a success, and presented a framed copy of the song for the CSJ archives.
