For the World Day of Food on October 16th, the Social Justice Standing Committee of St. Mary’s Parish Council (Fort Frances, ON) hosted a “ration supper” which consisted of humanitarian rations of rice and beans served with bread and water.
Information was provided to lead discussions and build awareness of food waste and the inequality of food distribution in the world. Pope Francis said, “… the food we throw away is unjustly taken from the hands of those who lack it. From those who have a right to daily bread because of their inviolable human dignity.”
Prayers focused on the command of Jesus to distribute our resources to others, and the rosary was prayed with intentions on moving toward a world without hunger.
