according to your provincial communications protocol.
Dear sisters in the League,
Thank you for the confidence you have placed in me as I begin my term as national secretary-treasurer. I thought I would briefly introduce myself.
I live in the town of Candiac, just outside of Montreal, Quebec, with my husband of 31 years, Stéphane. We have three young adult children. I have worked as a financial advisor for more than 35 years and have sat on both health and social services and education boards. I have served in my parish and diocese in many ways over the years.
I have been a member for 27 years and became a life member in 2020. I have been treasurer at all levels and secretary at two. Other portfolios of particular interest include faith, resolutions and policy. I have been involved in leadership development over the years, writing and delivering workshops on a regular basis and mentoring members when asked. I have sat on several national committees. If you are curious about me, please see my biography on the national website under Meet Our Executive. One of the greatest gifts I have received from the League is having had the joy of working with so many amazing women.
Over the next two years, my goals are to help secretaries and treasurers fulfill their roles as effectively and efficiently as possible. In regular meetings with my provincial counterparts, I hope we will have open discussions and support each other in our efforts to ensure councils are well administered, enabling them to continue to do all the good works they do in their communities. Budgets, bookkeeping, annual review or audits of books, best practices, minutes, motion books and all other administrative duties will be touched on and addressed as required.Communication also falls under the duties of the national secretary-treasurer. Media and social media protocols will be discussed. Regular review of the latest communications protocol will be a priority. Information on national grants and bursaries available for councils and members will be communicated. When members are informed, they are motivated.
As I embark on this journey, I am reminded that no one walks alone. Thank you to Life Member Dorothy Johansen, my predecessor, for her support and guidance. With God’s help and your prayers, I pray for a successful time in this office that members have entrusted me with.
