CNEWA Canada (Catholic Near East Welfare Association) held a “Light in the East: A Gala for Peace and Hope” to celebrate its 20th anniversary on November 7th in Ottawa. Mr. Joseph Hazboun, Regional Director of CNEWA – Pontifical Mission in Jerusalem, and Mr. Michel Constantin, Regional Director of CNEWA for Lebanon, Syria, Egypt and Iraq, asked National President Betty Colaneri to extend their gratitude to all League members for their past and ongoing support for CNEWA. Archbishop Marcel Damphousse (Ottawa-Cornwall), Ivan Jurkovič, Apostolic Nuncio for Canada and many other distinguished guests and supporters of CNEWA were present. Joseph and Michel each made moving presentations on the areas affected by conflict and poverty.
