The New Year will soon be upon us, and with it, the new national theme, Ignite Your Passion, Empower His Mission, will begin. The national executive/board, at its fall meeting, came together and chose “Blessed are the Poor” as the focus to accompany this theme for the next two years.
Using notable church events, celebrated world Christian events and the League’s Events Calendar from the national website as a guide, the national chairpersons of faith, service and social justice have created a monthly calendar of events for councils to use to empower the Lord’s mission to care for the least among us. This new and vibrant resource is designed to assist parish councils with event planning for next year, offering timely, appropriate recommendations for each month. We recognize that all councils are not “one size fits all” and that not all recommendations may be feasible for some councils. The hope is that councils will be able to implement as many of these recommendations as possible and that this will ignite members’ passion to serve in their communities.
The League would like to track the success of the theme’s focus throughout the year. Provincial presidents will receive an email from National Chairperson of Faith Karen Rossiter, bimonthly with a link to a tracking platform. This will be shared through each level so that councils at provincial, diocesan and parish levels will be able to share what they have completed over the previous two months.
