Does the League Require a Smart Phone Application?
Sharon Ciebin, Goal 4 Lead
Does the League need a smart phone application (app)? Why or why not? These questions and many others have been the smart phone working group’s focus for the past year.
Working group members questioned who would use the app, what League information would be helpful and how the app should look when developing a detailed course of action, requiring members’ input.
The first step, a national survey, provided a significant response from people living in cities, towns and rural communities. Individuals ranging in age from their early 20s to their mid-90s offered valuable insight on the kind of information to include in the app.
The working group is currently on step two of the plan—holding five focus groups sessions with members from across Canada. The purpose of these groups is to ensure survey information has been recorded correctly and gather information on the users’ equipment (cellular phones and iPads) and how the app should look. All focus group sessions will be complete by May 14th.
The final stage will be to merge all feedback and prepare a written report for presentation to the national executive/board at its mid-term meeting in the fall.
