Giving Thanks for the Summer Prayer

Jul 7, 2025 | In the News, Media, News Releases

The Vatican has announced that Pope Leo XIV will revive a 400-year-old tradition in which predecessor pontiffs would leave Vatican City for their summer vacation at Castel Gandolfo, a lakeside town about an hour south of Rome. Pope Leo will be there from July 6–20 “for a period of rest.” While there, he will debut a “new Mass on Creation” on July 9th, inspired by Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’. Members are invited to pray the attached prayer for summer holidays as they join their holiday intentions with those of the Holy Father.
