ENCL: Human Trafficking Webinar poster

National Social Justice Initiative on Human Trafficking

My dear sisters in the League,

Members are united in a mission to promote justice, dignity and compassion for all, especially the most vulnerable in society. Human trafficking is one of the gravest injustices of our time, and it exists not only globally but also within Canadian communities. It disproportionately affects women, children and marginalized and vulnerable populations, violating their dignity and freedom.

In this spirit, a national human trafficking initiative has been planned for members to engage in. A webinar on human trafficking is planned for January 21, 2025, accompanied by two articles slated for publication in the winter issue of The Canadian League. Shelley De-Serres, a national social justice subcommittee member, will test and update members’ knowledge about the current state of human trafficking in Canada. Sr. Nancy Brown, SC, explores human trafficking from the perspective of Canadian youth.

The webinar will feature three expert speakers: Glendyne Gerrard from Defend Dignity, Barbara Renaud, a League member and passionate voice of advocacy, and Trisha Baptie, a survivor of human trafficking. Please refer to the attached poster for more information on the webinar.

I invite everyone to participate in these opportunities to deepen their knowledge and understanding of human trafficking. As women of faith and action, let us continue to answer the call to serve and uphold the dignity of every person.

Your sister in the League,

Glenda Carson

National Chairperson of Social Justice
