“In our frailty, we discover that Christ himself is the Good Samaritan who heals our wounds and restores our hope. Let us turn, then, to the Sacred Heart, model of true humanity, and ask him to make our heart ever more like his” (Pope Leo XIV).
Lenten Days of Prayer and Reflection: The (#743) Lenten Prayers, Reflections and Intentions continues until the end of Lent. You can find this document under Resources, after logging in to the national website. This joint project initiative of the standing committee chairpersons of faith, service and social justice offers a meaningful way to deepen members’ love of Jesus and enhance their Lenten journey through prayer and reflection.
Monthly Scriptural Rosary: The monthly recitation of the Most Holy Scriptural Rosary continues. The upcoming dates are April 2nd, May 1st, June 7th, July 6th, August 4th and September 2nd. The same link is used for each month: meet.goto.com/284761253. Please share this information within your province and encourage participation.
D2L Brightspace Course: Course #832A Introduction for Clergy and Spiritual Advisors is designed specifically for clergy and spiritual advisors. It includes a brief history of the League, information on the Objects of the League and an overview of spiritual advisor responsibilities (approximately two hours). Please encourage spiritual advisors in your province to register for any of the courses offered to deepen their understanding of the League.
Theme Prayer Card: In the winter issue of The Canadian League, members received two national theme prayer cards written for the new national theme, Ignite Your Passion, Empower His Mission. This prayer was written by National President Betty Colaneri. Please use it at all League events and gatherings to bring the theme to life.
National Theme Webinar: Please mark your calendars for Tuesday, May 12th at 4:00 p.m. (CDT) for the webinar: Ignite Your Passion, Empower His Mission: A Reflection on the National Theme. The webinar will be co-hosted by Sr. Libby Osgood, CND, P.Eng., PhD. and me. You can find the registration link in the enclosed poster. Please promote this opportunity within your province.
Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus: In 1899, Pope Leo XIII approved the Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus for public use. This litany includes 33 invocations, one for each year of Jesus’ life. Encourage councils in your province to incorporate this beautiful litany during the next two years in support of the national theme. The litany will be posted on cwl.ca under Prayers and Hymns soon—watch for it.
Mary’s Way of the Cross Webinar: This webinar from March has been recorded and is available on the League’s YouTube channel, @cwlnational.
Papal Resource: On February 24th, Pope Leo XIV released a book titled Peace Be with You: My Words to the Church and the World. This 256-page publication contains a collection of texts by the holy father and is published by HarperCollins Publishers.
Upcoming Events: Please share the following important events with your diocesan counterparts:
- Feast of Our Lady of Good Counsel (April 26th). Encourage councils to honour Our Lady through a special Mass and/or devotion. The traditional Novena to Our Lady of Good Counsel takes place before the feast, typically beginning on April 17th and ending on April 25th.
- World Day of Prayer for Vocations (April 26th). Please encourage councils to include Prayers for Vocations in their events, especially in conjunction with the Feast of Our Lady of Good Counsel.
Your sister in the League,

Karen Rossiter
