A New League Opportunity: Learning Together Online Through D2L Brightspace
Dear sisters in the League,
I am excited to share a new initiative that will help members grow together in knowledge, faith and leadership! Through D2L Brightspace, the League is offering members another educational resource.
What is D2L Brightspace?
Brightspace is an online learning system created by D2L (Desire2Learn), a Canadian company based in Kitchener, Ontario. For the League, D2L Brightspace will be a simple and welcoming online space where members can come together to learn and grow in order to share their gifts and charisms. Think of it as a virtual classroom—members can join from their own home using a computer, tablet or smartphone.
This safe and supportive learning space offers prayer, reflection and practical tools to help the League become a stronger and more connected organization. If members find it helpful, D2L Brightspace has the potential to grow into an ongoing learning resource for members at all levels of the League, covering a large variety of topics.
The D2L working group is a dedicated team of passionate members who have volunteered to take on the immense task of implementing Brightspace. They oversee course development, help participants with registration and facilitate learning experiences.
The first League Brightspace courses began on September 15th, and include:
- Core Purpose and Objects of the League
- The Joy of Leadership featuring the modules:
- Ministries
- Leadership in the League
- Discovering New Opportunities
- Leadership and the Beatitudes
Although registration is now closed for this first offering, the working group is already planning future courses. Please share this initiative with your councils and encourage members to stay tuned to the League’s website and social media pages for future opportunities to register. This initiative is a wonderful way to deepen members’ understanding of the League, explore new opportunities to actively participate and embrace leadership rooted in gospel values. Let us continue to journey together as women of faith and action, using tools that can help us serve “For God and Canada” with joy and purpose.
