Please forward this message to chairpersons of faith, service and social justice.

As we prepare our hearts and homes for the upcoming Advent and Christmas seasons, members have a wonderful opportunity to put their faith into action, keep Christ in Christmas and celebrate a major milestone in the League’s history.

At the League’s 39th annual national convention in Saint John, New Brunswick, members officially adopted Resolution 1959.12 Nativity Issue, Canadian Postage Stamps, which requested that the federal government plan an annual Christmas stamp depicting a sacred, nativity scene. In 1964, Canada Post began featuring sacred art on Canadian Christmas postage stamps. The League continued to encourage Canada Post to issue sacred nativity scenes on Christmas stamps in its 1980.11 and 2005.01 resolutions.

This year’s stamp is from the wall painting behind the altar at Paroisse Saint-Pierre (St. Peter’s Church), in Chéticamp, Nova Scotia. A short explanation of the painting can be found on Canada Post’s website.

Buying and using these stamps is a beautiful way to evangelize through holiday mail and witness the value of League resolutions in action. If members want Canada Post to continue producing these religious stamps, we must buy them and ensure the demand remains strong.

How to Purchase and Order Stamps

Please share the following purchasing options with members:

  • At the post office: Members can visit their local branch and specifically ask for the 2026 Sacred Christmas/Angel stamps. Be specific, as non-religious snowflake options are also sold.
  • Special orders: If the local post office is sold out or does not have the stamps in stock, members can request a special order at the counter.
  • Order online: Members can also order booklets of 10 Permanent™ stamps ($12.40) directly from Canada Post’s online shop. Free shipping across Canada is available on orders over $25.00.

Please encourage members to honour the legacy of their 1959 League sisters and fill community mailboxes with a sacred representation of Christmas.
