My dear sisters in the League,
I have had the pleasure of attending several conventions and have been truly honoured to witness the sisterhood being shared. It is wonderful to hear of the many accomplishments of members and how they are embracing the national theme and focus.
Now more than ever, the world needs women of faith to shine the light of Jesus’ love for all His people. In a world that often seems to have lost its way, members can help guide others toward faith, hope and compassion.
As mentioned in my previous communiqué, there will be a slight change to the format at the national convention this year. In the past, the Resolutions Dialogue took place on Sunday afternoon. Last year, the League hosted the World Union of Catholic Women’s Organizations’ North American Regional Conference on Sunday and, as such, the dialogue was moved to Monday afternoon. Members responded very positively to this change, as more members were able to attend the Monday afternoon session. With this encouraging feedback in mind, I have decided to keep the dialogue scheduled for Monday afternoon.
On Sunday afternoon, from 1:30–3:30 p.m., a ‘meet and greet’ session will be held. This event is designed to give members an opportunity to meet and interact with members of the national executive/board. The event will include the national officers, provincial presidents (the incoming and outgoing), national spiritual advisor and the executive director/director of administration. An explanation of the event, along with a promotional poster, is included in this communiqué. This complimentary event does not require a ticket or registration.
Provincial presidents are required to attend, along with the national officers. As previously mentioned, you and your incoming provincial president (if applicable) are most welcome to represent your provincial council together. You are encouraged to bring any information you would like to share about your provincial council or projects taking place within your province. This event offers a valuable opportunity to be creative and to showcase all the good work being done in your province.
Kindly promote this event to your counterparts and encourage them, along with members of their council, to attend. This gathering will be a wonderful opportunity to begin our days at convention on an uplifting note as we celebrate our sisterhood in the League.
It is also important to promote online viewing of the convention so that non-attending members may hear the speakers, presentations and important issues discussed throughout the convention. Please encourage your counterparts to invite members who are unable to attend in person to join us virtually. It could also be an opportunity for councils to gather locally to watch portions of the convention together.
Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus: A Celebration of Divine Love
The month of June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and this year, the feast day will be celebrated on June 12th. This significant Catholic solemnity honours the physical and spiritual heart of Jesus as a symbol of God’s infinite and merciful love for us all. The feast emphasizes Jesus’ profound love, compassion and sacrifice for His people. It is a wonderful time to grow closer to Jesus through this devotion. I hope and pray that you will be able to honour the feast in some way and cherish His Sacred Heart.
May the Sacred Heart of Jesus continue to bless you and inflame your hearts with passion as you continue your service to God and to the League.
