“If you wish to draw others to peace, first have it yourselves; be steadfast in peace yourselves. To inflame others, you must have the flame burning within” (St. Augustine of Hippo).
Most Holy Scriptural Rosary: The monthly recitation continues and will now be held on the first Monday of every month at 6:00 p.m. (CDT). The same link will be used for all sessions: meet.goto.com/284761253. Upcoming dates are June 1st, July 6th, August 3rd, September 7th and October 5th. The mysteries will rotate rather than the dates. Please share this information with your diocesan counterparts and encourage participation at all levels of the League.
Upcoming Webinar: Please mark Tuesday, September 15th at 4:00 p.m. (CDT) for the webinar “Conversion of Heart: Finding Hope in Humanity’s Hunger for Jesus.” Hosted by National Chairperson of Faith Karen Rossiter and Anna Vail, Diocese of Charlottetown Coordinator of Family, Life and Youth, this webinar will explore the “holy hunger” for belonging and purpose that resides in every heart. Register here!
Prayer and Land Acknowledgements: There have been some questions regarding prayer and Land Acknowledgements. It is important to remember that they are to be kept as separate actions, with prayer always coming first.
From the Vatican: Pope Leo’s first encyclical, titled Magnifica Humanitas (“magnificent humanity”), was signed on May 15th, coinciding with the anniversary of Pope Leo XIII’s 1891 landmark encyclical, Rerum Novarum, which launched modern Catholic social teaching. This new encyclical, focused on preserving the human person in the age of artificial intelligence (AI), addresses the ethical implications of AI, international peace and global disorder. A presentation event at the Vatican with the pope and various speakers, and the encyclical’s release, are scheduled for May 25th.
The Catholic children’s book series Chime Travelers has become an animated television show. Written by Catholic author Lisa Hendey, the series follows twins Patrick and Katie as they travel through different places and time periods with the help of magical church bells. As they journey, they learn some valuable life lessons from the saints.
Fr. David Guffey, executive producer of “Chime Travelers” and national director of Family Theater Productions, believes this series fills an important gap in Catholic children’s media. “Chime Travelers” can be watched on Formed and on Hallow. Please ask your diocesan counterparts to share this information and encourage members to opt for this series for their children or grandchildren to watch.
Special Upcoming Dates: Please note and share the following dates with diocesan and parish councils. There are many special dates from June through to October; these are only a couple.
- June 12th: Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus
- August 15th: Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Your sister in the League,
