Resolution 1985.12 Northern Renewable Resources

Whereas, The Dene Nation, Inuit, Inuvialuit, Metis and non-native peoples of the Northwest Territories depend upon the use of the renewable resources of the air, land, sea and fresh-waters of the Territories and all of Canada; and

Whereas, These wildlife resources are essential to the nutritional, economic and cultural well-being of the native and non-native peoples of Canada; and

Whereas, The activities and programs of the Dene Nation, Inuit Tapirisat of Canada, Metis Association, committee for Original Peoples Entitlement and territorial Department of Renewable Resources actively support the continued use of these wildlife resources and the accessibility of them; therefore, be it

Resolved, That the national council of The Catholic Women’s League of Canada, in 65th annual national convention assembled, advise the minister of northern affairs that we stand in solidarity with the peoples of the north in their demands for the protection of renewable resources and accessibility to use them, for their nutritional, economic and cultural well being; and, be it further

Resolved, That the national council of The Catholic Women’s League of Canada, in 65th annual national convention assembled, encourage members to write their local members of parliament voicing concern for Canada’s renewable resources.
