Past President Communique #3

National Past President and Chairperson of Laws Barbara Dowding, September 5, 2017

God offers much wisdom in the saying, “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven” (Eccl. 3:1). God is sovereign and activity in this world becomes meaningful when relying on His wisdom, timing and goodness.

Welcome to the newest past presidents on behalf of the final term members!

As summer comes to an end and conventions are all wrapped up, members look forward to getting back to a routine. Past presidents play an integral part in League life. To keep activities meaningful, trust in the Lord and look for opportunities to mentor, advise, help and even correct as situations arise. It is this trust that keeps members grounded and focused on the big picture.

The town hall meeting in Charlottetown was exciting. The sessions, which can be shared with councils, may be viewed on the national website under the conventions tab/past conventions.

Now, more than ever, as strategic planning gets into high gear, members are called to stand in solidarity, asked to play a part, to have a say and to be part of the future for the good of the League. Steering committee members will be attending provincial meetings this fall to present a two hour workshop on planning strategically for the future. Provincial past presidents have much to add and much to discover. Hearing about individual situations and provincial needs, yet staying mindful will be very helpful in an attempt to make significant changes.

While there is a time for everything, sometimes it may feel there is not enough time for anything.  With hope and trust prepare well to plan strategically for the future. Focus on what can be done and do it well!

Please remember to share your communiques!

Happy September!
