DESCRIPTION:On May 21-23\, 2024\, the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops\, in collaboration with the\nPontifical Academy for Life and other key partners\, is hosting a symposium on palliative care in\nToronto. This symposium aims to strengthen hope for end-of-life issues within the Catholic church\,\nother faith traditions and society. It will unite participants from various disciplines and experts in\nvarious specialties to build a strong advocacy network for effective and comprehensive palliative\nand end-of-life care. Needs will be identified\, and tools will be recommended to facilitate a better\nand broader response to current challenges in implementing palliative care. It will create the\nopportunity to build a strong network of experts and practitioners who can help develop and\npromote palliative care resources.

DESCRIPTION:Join Dr. Nuala Kenny and moderator National Chairperson of Service Joline Belliveau as Dr. Kenny shares insight into the topic of palliative care. Dr. Kenny is a native New Yorker and a Sister of Charity of Halifax\, Nova Scotia. She is a physician\, pediatrician and bioethicist\, practicing\, teaching and working at several hospitals in Canada and receiving many honours for her work in child health\, medical education and health policy. Past president of both the Canadian Paediatric Society and the Canadian Bioethics Society\, she was chair of the values committee of the 1997 prime minister of Canada’s national forum on health. She has authored numerous papers and several books – Rediscovering the Art of Dying\, Healing the Church\, Diagnosing and Healing the Clergy.
