As chairperson of communications, I will be sending out some comments and information in the spring parish mailing regarding pornography. Included with the mailing is a poster/information sheet from the Over 18 documentary, and the organization that developed the video. Hopefully, councils find it helpful and are encouraged to hold some information sessions, possibly using the film while holding a presentation on the harmful effects of pornography. Please remind your diocesan counterparts to promote and use the Pornography Hurts postcards, which can be found on the national website at cwl.ca. There is no special time to send them; however, the member’s name, address and a comment must be included on the postcard.

The “12 Hours of Prayer for Palliative Care” on May 4th will be especially highlighted with a mass on Vision TV, sponsored by national council. Please invite councils to watch the mass, on May 4, 2017, as part of the day’s activities. The celebrant will be Father Patrick O’Dea. A special invitation is extended to attend the taping of the mass on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. at Loretta Abbey Chapel in Toronto. Perhaps Anna Tremblay, Ontario provincial communications chairperson, can encourage the diocesan councils for the Toronto area to consider attending.

Feast of Our Lady of Good Counsel – the taping is scheduled for Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Loretta Abbey Chapel at 4:00 p.m. (This is not sponsored by the League, however, members will be welcomed by the celebrant, Father Patrick O’Dea.) This will be broadcast on April 26th. You may visit Vision’s website at dailytvmass.com and the mass can be viewed at youtube.com/dailymass. Loretta Abbey Chapel is located at 101 Mason Blvd., North York, Ontario.

Please check the national website for information regarding the upcoming convention in Prince Edward Island in August. Information may also be found in The Canadian League. Salt + Light TV will be there to tape the convention and do interviews. Stay tuned.
