Marijuana Possession/Use - A Criminal OffenceSubmitted by: Ontario Provincial Council
Whereas, The federal government announced its intention to decriminalize the possession/use of marijuana under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act which would render its use to be a minor offence, similar to that of receiving a traffic ticket; and
Whereas, Scientific evidence indicates that marijuana use is hazardous to health and is addictive; therefore, be it
Resolved, That the national council of The Catholic Women's League of Canada in 84th annual national convention assembled, urge the federal government to keep the possession/use of any amount of marijuana as a criminal offence under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Requested Members' Action:
Write letters to the federal minister of justice urging that the possession/use of any amount of marijuana be kept as a criminal offence under the Criminal drugs and Substances Act; send a copy of your letter to your local member of parliament and the prime minister.
