Ovarian Cancer

Whereas, Among gynecological cancers, ovarian cancer is the most lethal, largely due to the fact that it is often not diagnosed until late stage; and

Whereas, Symptoms are often non-specific and can mimic menopausal or peri-menopausal symptoms, irritable bowel syndrome, non ulcer dyspepsia, depression or stress; therefore, be it

Resolved, That the national council of The Catholic Women's League of Canada in 84th annual national convention assembled, urge the federal minister of health to increase funding for ovarian cancer research and awareness; and, be it further

Resolved, That the national council of The Catholic Women's League of Canada in 84th annual national convention assembled, encourage provincial councils to urge the provincial and territorial ministers of health to increase funding for ovarian cancer research and awareness; and, be it further

Resolved , That the national council of The Catholic Women's League of Canada in 84th annual national convention assembled, encourage members to become informed about ovarian cancer, its symptoms at its earliest stage, and available diagnostic tests.

 

Requested Members' Action:

1. Write letters to the federal and provincial/territorial ministers of health requesting increased funding for ovarian cancder research.

2. Contact the National Ovarian Cancer Association at (877) 413-7970 to order Listen to the Whispers, a 60-minute educational program about ovarian cancer.
