Child Care Tax Deduction for Families with a Stay-at-Home ParentSubmitted by: B.C. & Yukon Provincial Council
Whereas, The Income Tax Act allows for a child care expense deduction where the child is cared for by a non-parent; and
Whereas, This allowable deduction financially penalizes families where one parent stays at home and cares for the child/children; therefore, be it
Resolved, That the national council of The Catholic Women's League of Canada, in 84th annual national convention assembled, urge the federal government to amend the Income Tax Act to allow the child care expense deduction to be claimed by all families with children under the age of 18.

Requested Members' Action:
Write letters to the attorney general and the federal ministers of justice, finance, social development, national revenue and the minister of state for families and caregivers requesting that the Income Tax Act be amended; send a copy of your letter to your local member of parliament and the prime minister.
