Endometriosis Research/Awareness

Whereas, Endometriosis is a painful and immunological disease resulting in internal bleeding, formation of scar tissue, and inflammation of the lining of the uterus, abdomen, bowel and bladder, and

Whereas, An estimated 5.5 million women in North America suffer from endometriosis, and

Whereas, Endometriosis is one of the most difficult diseases to diagnose and the only effective relief is treating the symptoms, and

Whereas, Resolution 96.8, Partnership in Health Care, encourages all members to become better informed on health issues, therefore be it

Resolved, That the national council of The Catholic Women's League of Canada in 80th annual national convention assembled, urge the federal minister of health to increase funding for endometriosis research, and be it further

Resolved, That the national council of The Catholic Women's League of Canada in 80th annual national convention assembled, encourage members

  1. to write the local college of physicians and surgeons requesting they provide seminars for their members to review symptoms of, and treatment for endometriosis;
  2. to become informed about this disease and its symptoms at its earliest stage;
  3. to write to provincial, territorial and federal ministers of health to increase funding for endometriosis research.
