Elder Abuse/Assault AwarenessWhereas, Many people do not recognize the signs of elder abuse / assault; and
Whereas, Many older adults do not report abuse / assault for fear of retaliation, punishment or shame; therefore, be it
Resolved, That the national council of The Catholic Women's League of Canada, in 79th annual national convention assembled, recommend that all Catholic Women's League councils encourage their members to become aware of media campaigns, programs available from the federal and provincial/territorial governments, and community response mechanisms in place for elder protection in their communities; and be it further
Resolved, that the national council of The Catholic Women's League of Canada, in 79th annual national convention assembled, urge provincial councils to encourage their provincial/territorial governments to implement effective campaigns and programs, where such campaigns, programs and response mechanisms are non-existent or inadequate.
