Palliative Care: An Essential Service

Whereas, in June 1995, the Special Senate Committee on Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide advised that governments make palliative care programs a top priority in the restructuring of the health care system and that the delivery of care, whether in the home, in hospice or in institutions, including respite services, be coordinated to maximize effectiveness; therefore, be it

Resolved, that the national council of The Catholic Women's League of Canada, in 78th annual national convention assembled, urge the federal government to amend the Canada Health Act to designate palliative care an essential service.
