Pastoral Care of Homosexual Persons

Whereas, The issue of homosexuality and the moral evaluation of homosexual acts have increasingly become a matter of public debate; and

Whereas, This debate often advances arguments and makes assertions inconsistent with the teachings of the Catholic church; and

Whereas, Homosexuality, with its many consequences for society and ecclesial life, has been deemed by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith as a proper focus for the church's pastoral care; therefore, be it

Resolved, That the national council of The Catholic Women's League of Canada, in 69th annual national convention assembled, encourages members to read the document Letter to the Bishops of the Catholic Church on the Pastoral Care of Homosexual Persons', dated October 1, 1986, from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith; and, be it further

Resolved, That the national council of The Catholic Women's League of Canada, in 69th annual national convention assembled, supports participation in programs on human sexuality as taught by the Catholic church, to be better able to bring healing and wholeness to family relationships.
