Role of Women in the ChurchWhereas, The Catholic Women's League of Canada's church continues to emphasize the dignity of and reverence for all person; and
Whereas, The members of the Catholic Women's League of Canada believe that the church in its struggle to be faithful to this call is striving to ensure that women share in its pastoral work; and
Whereas, The 1981 report of the survey on the participation of women in the official pastoral work of the Catholic church in Canada by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB), illustrates that the full potential of women in this mission is not yet utilized; therefore, be it
Resolved, That the national council of The Catholic Women's League of Canada, in 62nd annual national convention assembled, be open to, and supportive of, the initiatives taken by the CCCB; and, be it further
Resolved, That The Catholic Women's League of Canada ?work toward the kind of personal development and structural evolution which will enable the church to reflect more fully the partnership of women and men in Christ's mission.? (CCCB statement, 1974)
