2005 Annual Report of New Brunswick Provincial President
Yolande PerryAfter 60 years of service in the Moncton Archdiocese, one parish council closed. The last serving president, who was 89 years young, and the other five members were invited to transfer to a nearby council to continue their memberships. It is impressive that the council achieved 60 years of service ?For God and Canada.?
Total membership in 2005 was 3,106, with 47 deceased members reported.
Members of Bathurst Diocesan Council were very proud of the CWL banner which was donated by a very generous member. I attended all but one of the council anniversaries around the province. Many councils had special fundraisers to enable members to attend conventions.
A couple of parish councils in New Brunswick kept their councils going by having co-presidents. This worked well for them.
Members were very active in their respective churches and communities in many diverse activities. They were well appreciated by their parishes and communities for their service.
Workshops and guest speakers kept members busy and proved to be well appreciated and very successful. One workshop was given at Villa Madonna by Honorary Life Member Vivian Bosch and was entitled Journey: Sharing the Story.
National Chairperson of Community Life Ann Doucet was guest speaker at a prayer breakfast at St. Dunstan Parish Council in Fredericton where she spoke about her faith journey and the influence of Mary in her life. Members in Saint John Diocese attended a workshop presented by Honorary Life Member Vivian Bosch entitled Spirituality of Leadership. Each chairperson participated and gave a session on her standing committee. The evaluation reports were 99% positive.
